At Carrizo Gorge, about 19 km north of Jacumba, landslides broke timbers and wiring on a railroad bridge. Slight damage was observed at several towns in the area. Several aftershocks occurred, the strongest at 01:50 UTC on Oct. 22. The quake was felt from the coast [in Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego Counties] east to Mobile, Arizona [about 45 km south of Phoenix], and from Crucero (San Bernardino County [about 75 km east of Barstow]) south to Baja California.
