More than 800 deaths. More than 600 houses collapsed in the Litang-Daocheng area. Landslides, ground fissures and sandblows occurred in the region. Over 180 aftershocks occurred in the succeeding 3 months, some of which caused additional damage.
M5.7 - Torbat-e Heydariyeh, Iran (Persia), 1923
2,200 dead. One of the world's deadliest earthquakes. Five villages completely destroyed southwest of Torbat-e Heydariyeh.
