M 5.2 - 6 km N of Darwin, CA

Erroneous notification for M5.2 near Olancha, CA, 2020/11/13 Seismic energy from the M5.3 Mina, NV, earthquake on 2020/11/13 confused the earthquake monitoring system in Southern California, which misinterpreted it as coming from an event near Olancha, CA, about 200km from the true location. Some of our systems did recognize that this was unlikely to be a real earthquake, and we are updating our software to mitigate similar alerts being published in future. We apologize for any confusion that this created.
