Derived from 2008 USGS Hazard Data
2012 IBC
These gridded text files contain SS and S1 parameter values from the 2012 International Building Code. Please note that these values will not exactly match those provided by the U.S. Seismic Design Maps. The maps interpolate the underlying probabilistic and deterministic ground motions, as well as the risk coefficients, before calculating SS and S1. Should you choose to interpolate the gridded values provided below, you will be doing so after the SS and S1 calculations have already been performed at the grid points. Proceeding with this order of operations will produce results that slightly differ from those calculated in the Design Maps. The data below are provided as a reference. For the specific gridded data sets underlying the Design Maps, which can be used to recreate the Design Maps, please consult the 2009 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions data section.

The Maps interpolate the underlying probabilistic and deterministic ground motions, as well as the risk coefficients, before calculating SS and S1. Should you choose to interpolate the gridded values provided below, you will be doing so after the SS and S1 calculations have already been performed at the grid points. Proceeding with this order of operations will produce results that slightly differ from those calculated by the Design Maps. The data below are provided as a reference. These gridded text files contain SSUH, S1UH, SSD, S1D, CRS, and CR1 parameter values from the 2009 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions. To calculate SS and S1 (as well as SMS, SM1, SDS, and SD1), please follow the procedure outlined in the Detailed Report generated by the U.S. Seismic Design Maps. Please note that only the seismic design parameter values given below can be used to calculate SS and S1 values that match those provided by the U.S. Seismic Design Maps for the 2009 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions, the 2010 ASCE 7 Standard, and the 2012 International Building Code.
