The Quaternary fault and fold database for the U.S. shows that this fault was assigned to the 0.2-1.0 mm/yr slip-rate category, based on the magnitude of the slip rate assigned by dePolo (1998) of 0.488 mm/yr. Thus the assigned slip rate used here is appropriately increased. The characteristic magnitude for this fault is fixed at M7.5 even though the length of the fault would permit a larger earthquake. |
