Earthquake Science Center Seminars

GET READY to be prepared!

The Menlo Park Fire Protection District and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) hosted a 2-hour basic emergency preparedness class to help residents become better prepared. Participants learned about local disasters and how to protect themselves, their families and their neighborhood.

Steve Walter, USGS geologist informed residents about earthquakes. It's not "if" but "when" the next earthquake is going to happen. Menlo Park Fire Protection District discussed how to prepare before a disaster.

Do you have a disaster plan? Do you have a disaster kit? Do you know how to shut off your utilities? Did you know 75% of all calls to local dispatch after Loma Prieta were how and when do I shut off my gas? Learn more about the GET READY program in Menlo Park, California.
