At least 2,698 people killed, 270 missing, 12,135 injured and 15,000 buildings damaged in the Yushu area. Felt (IV) at Lhasa, Qiaotou and Xining; (II) at Baojishan, Lanzhou and Urumqi. Felt at Aksu, Dazhou, Jinchang, Ya'an, Yumen Dong Zhan and Zhangye. Felt (II) at Thimphu, Bhutan. Also felt at Punakha. Felt at Dibrugarh and Gezing, India. Also felt at Kathmandu, Nepal and at Chiang Mai, Thailand.
M5.5 - Belgium, 1992
One person died of a heart attack at Bonn, Germany. Twenty people injured and some buildings damaged (VIII) at Roermond, Netherlands and 25 people injured and some buildings damaged (VII) at Heinsberg, Germany. Damaged also reported at Bonn and Koln, Germany and in Limburg Province, Belgium. Felt strongly in many parts of northwestern Germany, eastern Belgium and southern Netherlands. Felt in northeastern France. Also felt throughout much of southeastern England and in the Liverpool-Manchester area, United Kingdom.

The earthquake occurred between Olympia and Tacoma, along the southern edge of Puget Sound. Property damage in Olympia, Seattle, and Tacoma was estimated at $25 million; eight people were killed; and many were injured.
