Seismic Design Data Sets
2012 IBC
These gridded text files contain SS, S1 and PGA parameter values from the 2010 ASCE-7 Standard. Please note that these values will not exactly match those provided by the U.S. Seismic “DesignMaps” Web Application. DesignMaps references a finer grid (0.01 degree) of data than that provided below. In addition, DesignMaps interpolates the underlying probabilistic and deterministic ground motions, as well as the risk coefficient, before calculating SS and S1. Conversely, should you choose to interpolate these gridded values, you will be doing so after the SS and S1 calculations have already been performed at the grid points. Proceeding with this order of operations will produce results that slightly differ from those calculated by DesignMaps. The data below are provided as a reference. For the 0.01 degree gridded data sets underlying DesignMaps, which can be used to recreate DesignMaps results, please consult the 2009 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions data section.

These gridded text files contain SSUH, S1UH, SSD, S1D, CRS, and CR1 parameter values from the 2009 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions. To calculate Ss and S1 (as well as SMS, SM1, SDS, and SD1), please follow the procedure outlined in the U.S. Seismic “DesignMaps” Web Application “Detailed Report”. Please note that only seismic design parameter values calculated using the 0.01 degree gridded data sets will match those values provided by the U.S. Seismic DesignMaps Web Application when interpolated for locations off the data grid.
