Seismic Design Data Sets
Derived from 2008 USGS Hazard Data
2012 IBC
These gridded text files contain S_{S} and S_{1} parameter values from the 2012 International Building Code. Please note that these values will not exactly match those provided by the U.S. Seismic Design Maps. The maps interpolate the underlying probabilistic and deterministic ground motions, as well as the risk coefficients, before calculating S_{S} and S_{1}. Should you choose to interpolate the gridded values provided below, you will be doing so after the S_{S} and S_{1} calculations have already been performed at the grid points. Proceeding with this order of operations will produce results that slightly differ from those calculated in the Design Maps. The data below are provided as a reference. For the specific gridded data sets underlying the Design Maps, which can be used to recreate the Design Maps, please consult the 2009 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions data section.

Please note that these values will not exactly match those provided by the U.S. Seismic Design Maps. The Maps interpolate the underlying probabilistic and deterministic ground motions, as well as the risk coefficients, before calculating S_{S} and S_{1}. Should you choose to interpolate the gridded values provided below, you will be doing so after the S_{S} and S_{1} calculations have already been performed at the grid points. 2009 NEHRP
These gridded text files contain S_{SUH}, S_{1UH}, S_{SD}, S_{1D}, C_{RS}, and C_{R1} parameter values from the 2009 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions. To calculate S_{S} and S_{1} (as well as S_{MS}, S_{M1}, S_{DS}, and S_{D1}), please follow the procedure outlined in the Detailed Report generated by the U.S. Seismic Design Maps. Please note that only the seismic design parameter values given below can be used to calculate S_{S} and S_{1} values that match those provided by the U.S. Seismic Design Maps for the 2009 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions, the 2010 ASCE 7 Standard, and the 2012 International Building Code.
