The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: An earthquake occurred about 150 km (95 miles) SSW of Padang, Sumatra, Indonesia or 885 km (550 miles) WNW of JAKARTA, Java, Indonesia at 2:02 PM MST, Feb 25, 2008 (Feb 26 at 4:02 AM local time in Indonesia). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. There have been no reports of damage at this time.

Several homes damaged at Sikakap. Felt (V) on Mentawai and at Painan; (IV) at Padang, (III) at Pariand (II) at Bukittingi, Kepahiang, Padangpanjang and Payakumbuh. Felt (III) in Singapore.
