Eight people killed and several injured; 526 buildings damaged or destroyed; many roads and bridges damaged; some landslides occurred in the San Jose area. Water lines broke at Parrita and power outages occurred at Quepos. Felt in much of Costa Rica. Felt (VII) at Parrita and Quepos; (VI) at Damas, Failes and Jaco; (V) at Alajuela, Monterrey, Naranjo, Puntarenas, San Isidro, Turrialba and Zapote; (IV) at Batan, Bribri, Limon, Los Chiles, Nicoya, Palmar Sur and Upala.
